About Baidyanath Dham Temple
Baidyanath Dham Temple, also known as Baba Baidyanath Jyotirlinga, is one of the most sacred temples dedicated to Lord Shiva. Located in Deoghar, Jharkhand, the temple is one of the 12 Jyotirlingas and is also regarded as one of the revered Shakti Peethas. According to Hindu tradition, the heart (Hridaya) of Goddess Sati is believed to have fallen here, making this holy site significant for both Shaivism and Shaktism. Millions of devotees visit the temple every year to seek the blessings of Baba Baidyanath for health, prosperity, and spiritual liberation.
Religious Significance
According to Hindu mythology, Ravana performed intense penance to please Lord Shiva, who appeared as Baidyanath, the Divine Physician. Devotees believe that worshipping Baba Baidyanath removes diseases, fulfills wishes, grants peace, prosperity, and spiritual strength. During the holy month of Shravan, millions of Kanwariyas carry sacred Ganga water from Sultanganj and offer it to the Jyotirlinga.
